After two days of wrestling the Eagles finished the tournament with 8 placers and a 4th place team finish decided in one of the last matches of the night. Handfighting (aka: Push, Pull, Circle Snap)
Handfighting is a key ingredient for wrestling on our feet and nobody did it better than the Brands brothers from the University of Iowa. Pay close attention to the effectiveness of the relentless attack of Terry (2-time NCAA Champ) and Tom (3-time NCAA Champ) and see what happens to their opponents.

Handfighting & Moving your Opponent
Here is some technique that should look very familiar to anyone involved with the Eagle Point wrestling program. Although the terminology might be a little different, the purpose and outcome are the same: Move your opponent and get him out of position to create openings for an attack.

Parent Volunteers Needed: Best of the West 11/21/09
The Eagle Point High School wrestling program needs your help with the Best of the West wrestling tournament on Saturday, November 21st. This year EPHS is responsible for running the high school portion of the tournament. All arrangements and the running of the tournament have been planned and are taken care of, but we do need to provide table help for six tables.
We will need three people at each table for a total of eighteen volunteers at all times throughout the day. The tournament begins at 10:00 AM and we are anticipating it will be over by 6:00 PM. It would be nice to have enough help to run in shifts.
The wrestlers will all be bringing home a copy of the sign-up sheet, so please write your name and the times that you are available to help, and have your wrestler return it to Coach McNulty.
You can also call Coach McNulty at 301-4904 to let him know that you will be there to help.

Apparently, the greatest college wrestler of all-time, Cael Sanderson has stolen Eagle Point's takedown defense. These videos show Cael using our same techniques even though he has always been known as an offensive wrestler. This just goes to show the importance of a strong wrestling base to build on.
